Business Visitor

Business visitors are persons who stay in Canada for a few days or up to 6 months.

Activities you may conduct as a business visitor include:

  • Taking orders for goods or services
  • Attending meetings, conferences, conventions or trade fairs
  • Buying Canadian goods or services for a foreign entity
  • Being trained by a Canadian parent company that you work for outside Canada
  • Giving after-sales service as part of sales agreement

To qualify as a business visitor to Canada, you must show that:

  • You have documents that support your application
  • You don’t plan to enter the Canadian labour market
  • Your main place of business, and source of income and profits is outside Canada

When travelling to Canada, a business visitors should be prepared to present immigration officials with documentation that attests to their desired status in Canada. This documentation will vary on a case-by-case basis. Often, items such as a letter of support from a parent company or letter of invitation from a Canadian company can help to bolster one’s likelihood of acceptance as a business visitor.
